New Exhibition in the Sts John Church

The new exhibition STUDIES AND LIFE AT THE JESUIT UNIVERSITY presents highlights from the longest continuous period of Vilnius University’s existence: from 1579, when the university was founded, until 1773, when the Jesuit Order was suppressed and the university became a secular institution of higher education under the aegis of a Commission for National Education of Poland and Lithuania. Its name was changed to the Principal School of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. You will find here the early study programs formulated by the Jesuits as well as information about some of the outstanding scholars who taught here and students who matriculated here, about scholarly and scientific achievements, and everyday life.
